Gordon Brown praises Liberata
April 16, 2010
Liberata won acclaim from the UK Prime Minister recently, after winning a prestigious international award from one of the world’s leading health and safety organisations. The British Safety Council’s International Safety Award is a well established and widely recognised scheme set up to recognise organisations that are committed to continuously improving their health and safety performance. The award is acknowledged and endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive as a powerful motivator for achieving high safety standards.
Gordon Brown said: “I am delighted to send my congratulations to those organisations presented with an award by the British Safety Council. These awards recognise the crucial success that those organisations and their employees have achieved in their pursuit of excellence in the management of health, safety and environmental matters at an international level.”
For an organisation to win this coveted award it must provide evidence to an independent adjudication panel that it has comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in place. It must also show a clear commitment to health and safety from the boardroom to the shop floor and be committed to promoting a positive safety culture throughout the business. Winning organisations must also be able to demonstrate the competence of those responsible for the management of health and safety and provide clear evidence about the improvements they have achieved during the year.
Liberata Health & Safety Director, Sue Cranstoun, said: “I am delighted that Liberata has achieved this award for a fourth consecutive year, and would like to extend my thanks to everyone who has contributed to our success. Within Liberata we view health and safety as an integral part of our business and will continue to work collectively to promote continuous improvement and innovation in all parts of the organization.”
Julie Nerney, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “In the 21st century, many organisations worldwide are understandably making health, safety and environmental management their top priority. Through achieving an International Safety Award, Liberata is helping to make our vision of a healthy and safe working environment a reality.”
