Liberata’s origins lie in a business founded in 1975, by the Chartered Institute of Public Service and Accountancy (CIPFA), called CIPFA Services Ltd, which in 1989 was acquired by its management and renamed CSL. CSL provided management consultancy services, Business Process outsourcing (BPO) and corporate finance advice, prodominatly to local government until 1993, when CSL was acquired by Deloitte & Touche and sunsequently renamed Liberata.
Liberata was at the forefront of developing BPO services, and this became the focus of its activities resulting in a number of partnerships with local authorities and governmental agencies for the provision of services including Revenues & Benefits, Accounting and Finance Management, ICT, Human Resources & Payroll and other transactional services.
Between 2003 and 2005, Liberata secured a £210million investment from General Atlantic to acquire a majority of shares in the company, injecting significant new capital into Liberata.
Recent successes include contracts for the provision and management of business support services for the Local Government Association and procurement administration and Revenues & Benefits for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council in association with our partner BT. We have also renewed or extended contracts with clients such as the City of London, North Somerset Council and West Sussex County Council.
